Great news for all “lovers of the arts” in Puerto Penasco. This week Mayor Ernesto “Kiko” Munro announced, that The Cervantino Festival is returning to our city once again. Four days and nights of happenings…full of art, music, color and fun for all ages…it’s free and open to the public. Dates are Thursday, October 13th to Sunday, October 16th. This truly is a must see event, where many different artists present their works of painting, photography, music, theater performances and concerts.
A Moving Sound from Taiwan opens the Festival on Thursday night. This five member instrumental and vocal group, now touring North America, has attracted international attention through their contemporary use of traditional instruments and vocal techniques. This is a great act to kick off the weeks musical activities. The following three days will feature the music and songs of Rito Emilio Salazar, Jorge Martín Aguilar Tirado, plus Astrid Hadad with the Mysterious Earth show. Sundays closing performance by The Philharmonic Orchestra of Sonora will be a musical event for the whole family. There will be much more than this happening musically and if last years festival is any indication you’ll find the visit to the Malecon well worth the time.
