On Saturday September 24th, the Calle Bonita Mural competition was held in Cholla Mall / Rodeo Drive (Revolution Street), with 17 different local artists trying to place their work into the top three. The purpose of this project was to help further beautify Penasco’s most eclectic shopping street and to promote these talented local artists. All muralists worked flat out for days completing the many creative works. Imagination and color now marks the streets of Rodeo Drive. The organizers and artists who made this event possible, should be congratulated for a job well done.
Prizes to the winners were presented the day of the event, following voting on Facebook , which was coordinated by Eli Balderrama, Eddie Wharez and Erick Plata on their Facebook fan page, Mexican Rodeo Drive.
Third Place – Gloria Nunez From Puerto Penasco with her work “Frida y Alebrije”.
Second Place – Hector Arvizu From Magdalena Sonora with his work “Pez Leon”
First Place – Israel Rios with his “Hombres de la Arena” and Gaby Gómez with his work “Indigente” both from Rocky Point finished in a tie.
If you are from Puerto Penasco, or are here on visiting or vacationing, we recommend visiting Rodeo Drive / Cholla Mall so you can enjoy these beautiful and colorful works.
